Guitarists from Barcelona Raimon Torio and Marc Sambola formed Mascarade Guitar Duo in 2006 with the intention of giving response to the musical worry of both interpreters to foment and to spread this chamber repertoire
Raimon Torio and Marc Sambola initiated their guitar studies with Josep Ma. Olmos, they would soon be interested in singing and the choral music, as well as in composition. This coincidental fact brings together with a personal understanding between both interpreters and this mutual understanding is the principal ingredient that encouraged them to initiate this project. The duo has been present at the masters classes of the duo Kassner-Quer and of David Russell.
At present they are projecting the recording of a CD where the thread will be the mutual influence and the evolution contrast of the South American and the Catalan music. As a bridge between two distant continents and at the same time so close.
Mascarade's repertoire includes works ranging from the renaissance of P. Attaignant to music of the 20th century, passing through the big classic models as Ferran Sor. The duo interprets original works for two guitars as well as transcriptions of other instruments. |
